jumping the gun!

Next to cross off on the checklist... Quit a Job.

Yesterday I accepted an assistant houseparent position at Gateway Woods! This means that after 5 years (and a few months), I'm quitting the Trails. And I'm glad to say that it is definitely more sweet than bitter :) The Trails and I had a bumpy relationship at times.

There were the good memories (and they definitely outweigh the bad)....
-playing frisbee in the parking lot (until we didn't throw to Steven and he told on us)
-playing frisbee in the kitchen with roll baskets
-throwing rolls in general
-breaking a strainer because we used it as a bat for baseball.. and then seeing that strainer a year later and realizing they were still using it without the handle!
-making "how to" videos.... how to roll silverware, how to fold napkins, etc.
-stacking the tables (3 high)
-the Scottish dinner!
- checking the back dock (the term we used to go hangout out back)
-Addison and I creating history for every item at the Trails.. "Do you know the history of this ice machine? Well... when the titanic hit that iceberg, it really shredded things up and Leonardo DiCaprio was there collecting shards of ice which he later sold on the black market. The Trails was lucky enough to take park in a shady deal giving them an unlimited supply back during World War II, and they haven't run out yet!!"
-the coffee pots having disco parties in the club
-Cool Club

And, there were the bad....
-being unable to hold in my tears after Emily attacked me with vicious yelling (heh)
-dumping a full silverware tub, and the party already being so stressful that Kevin didn't even yell, he just helped me pick it up
-the bride blaming us for not being able to find the real piece in her fake cake!
-being blamed for every mistake every server made because I was the room leader and in charge (and could supposedly control everything)
-smelling like The Trails
Oh, the Scottish gents!
Thankfully, I'm leaving on good terms. There were times when I wanted to walk out.. and I almost did. But, I'm glad I stuck it through those times. Instead of quitting when it would have been easy to quit.. I'm quitting when it's time. It was a great learning experience.. I was blessed to be able to get paid to hangout with my friends!
